Visitation Rules

A visit made by someone who lives within 100 miles from the GCADf is permitted a 30 minute regular visit during a seven day period. Only two people are allowed to visit per week. This includes children the age of 12 and above. Visitors living further than 100 miles away may set a regular visit for one hour in a seven day period. You must speak to the shift supervisor to be approved for a one hour visit and MUST provide proof of residence showing you do in fact live greater than 100 miles away.

Please read all of the rules completely prior to moving forward – Not knowing the rules will not be accepted as an excuse for not following them. Disobeying any rule may result in you being banned from visiting detainees or criminal charges being pursued when applicable.

  • Visiting is held 7 days a week from 9am-11am, 1:30pm-4pm.
  • All visits are subject to monitoring and recording.
  • All visits must be scheduled 48 hours prior to the appointment or up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • Visits will last 30 minutes.
  • Each inmate is allowed one visit per week.
  • The cost of a remote visit is $20.00.
  • Please be advised if an inmate is in ANY program (at court, on trustee assignments, CRP programs, attorney visits, etc.), they are NOT eligible to receive the visit at that time. Please schedule your visits around the inmate's program schedule.
  • All visitors must possess a valid government issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, State ID card, or Military Issued ID.
  • All children (under 18 years of age) must be accompanied by an adult.
  • There will be no cellphones or any devices allowed in the video visitation area. 
  • There will be no photo shot or video recording of any inmate while visiting. Your visit will be terminated   immediately.
  • Appropriate dress is required at all times.
    • Skin tight/Form fitting clothes are not allowed.
    • No Spaghetti Strap tops allowed.
    • Dresses or skirts may not be any shorter than 4 inches above the knee, tops shall be no lower than the underarm in the front and back. Bare midriffs or strapless tops, tube tops, tank tops, body suits, muscle shirts, spandex or swimsuits are not permitted.
    • Any clothing or other items displaying gang-related symbols, themes or colors are prohibited.
    • Any clothing containing vulgar or objectionable language or images are prohibited.
    • All visitors must wear undergarments at all times.
    • No hats are allowed.
    • No see through clothing allowed.
    • No sunglasses allowed.
  • Visitors and inmates must remain seated at all times during the visitation session. Small children, five (5) years old and younger, must remain on the visitors lap or in their immediate control at all times.
  • Any inappropriate activity will result in termination of your session immediately!
  • Visitors may be restricted from visiting an inmate if they have been an inmate in the Graham County Detention Center within 6 months unless immediate family and then must be approved by Sheriff or designee.
  • Visitors involved in the following will be placed on permanent visiting restrictions:
    • Visitors that create a disturbance or disruption of the visiting process.
    • Visitors under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
    • Visitors that refuse to show sufficient identification.
    • Visitors performing sexual or gang gestures.
    • Threatening staff or inmates.
    • Criminal activity.
    • Destroying or tampering with property.
    • Visitors fail to comply with rules posted or given by staff.
    • Violating court order.
    • False reporting to staff.
    • Any activity that will threaten the safety and security of the Detention Center.
  • The visitation schedule may be cancelled for safety/security reasons.
  • Staff can deny, change, or cancel a visit at any time at their discretion.
  • Each visitation session will show a timer to display elapsed time.
  • After your visit has ended please exit the building so the next visitor may prepare for their scheduled visit. There’s only 15 minutes between visits for preparation.
  • The Visitation center is under constant surveillance. If you are caught vandalizing or damaging the center in anyway criminal charges will be pursued.
